An alumnus of Shri VN Government Medical College, Yavatmal with 22 years of distinguished service in the Indian Navy (Army Medical Corps), Dr Makarand Rajurkar is specialised (MD) in Aerospace Medicine at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAF), Bangalore. Served as Classified Specialist in Aerospace Medicine and Aeromedical Advisor to the Flag Officer Naval Aviation before voluntary retirement in 2023.

An experienced Aerospace Medicine Specialist who is rich in varied exposure of Naval Ships including the Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya, Naval Air Stations and various naval establishments.

A decorated officer, author, and researcher, he holds the AOC-in-C Commendation (2015), Chief of Air Staff Commendation (2018), and multiple prestigious aviation medicine awards.

Currently practising as a DGCA, FAA (USA), and NZ CAA empanelled Aviation Medical Examiner at Aviation Clinic Pune, and President of the Civil Aviation Medicine Society.
