Keep your last assessment handy.

Login to your eGCA > Medical Services > Apply for NOC > Select Class – 1 or Class – 2 > On Left – Select Delayed / Special / Early > on Right, Select Renewal / Initial / Re-Initial > Scroll down to write reason for NOC > on right upload your last Medical Assessment > Choose DGCA Empanelled Medical Examiner > fill Examiner’s eGCA ID as IMDEM2021000389 > search > Choose date as in appointment email > Check on declaration and submit.

It is difficult if NOC has been issued by date. Otherwise in routine renewal prior to expiry, yes, it can be rescheduled. However, you must ensure that the rescheduling does not go beyond the date of your validity in which case you would be required to obtain NOC from the DGCA.
What documents am I required to bring along on the day of medical?
  • You are required to bring an original Government issued Photo ID (Preferable Passport / Aadhar Card / Driving License / Pan Card / Voter ID Card).
  • Also, the ID number of the ID that you used to create eGCA ID is must.
  • You will need to bring a copy of your last CA – 35 (Medical Certificate) and Medical Assessment (If issued).

Its your choice. If you do, the medical Can conclude in 1-2 Hrs. However, if you chose to do it at our clinic, the blood reports are received by evening and only then, medical can conclude.

Yes, always
How long does a typical Class -1 or Class – 2 Medical Examination take?
  • Typically, if you have reported in time and all parameters are found to be within limits as per the guidelines, your medical will conclude by 6:30 PM
  • However, if any investigation is found beyond permissible limits or reveals an infection or values borderline high, same may be required to be repeated on next or subsequent days.
  • In case of findings where deliberations and opinions of other specialists are mandated, the medical may conclude on next or subsequent days.
  • Having said that all efforts shall be made to conclude medical and issue certificate in shortest possible time. i.e one day
Applying for medical and agreeing to undergo medical examination for ascertaining fitness for flight duties automatically implies consent, referred to as ‘implied consent’.
If a particular test is deemed necessary by the Examiner, to arrive at a decision for ascertaining fitness and is imperative in aeromedical decision making, then in such a case your medical would be rendered ‘incomplete’ and the incomplete medical will then be submitted to the DGCA in which case the DGCA will issue the medical assessment or and unfitness letter accordingly. The certificate issued to you and search cases likely would be a certificate of temporary or permanent unfitness.
After commencement of medical process if at any time, you choose to discontinue the medical process the proceedings as it is will be submitted to the DMS at the DGCA as incomplete medical. The outcome in all such cases would be unfit for flying duties.
If for some reasons even after reporting, you are availability for the continued process is not possible then the remaining process can be deferred for some time as per the decision by the examiner. However, this duration has to be within 30 days for completion of medical. This will be only under exceptional circumstances. One may appreciate that last medical validity date ceases to exist moment you have reported for the present medical. One may be extra careful and not exercising the privileges of license till the medical is complete and Fitness certificate is issued.
Negative, your past medical certificate will be rendered invalid immediately as you start with the process of medical examination and you should not undertake flying operations till such time your medical is complete and you are assessed fit.
What is the difference between Medical Certificate (CA – 35) issued by the AME / Evaluation Centre and Medical Assessment issued by the DGCA?
  • CA – 35 is the Medical Certificate issued by examiner or Aeromedical Evaluation centre at the end of your medical. This may have a validity date. In such cases your validity is as mentioned. However, DGCA may still decide to issue a medical assessment after review.
  • Medical Assessment is the final Decision of your fitness arrived at by the DGCA medical Assessor, after review of your medical process and certificate. This will have your validity date and recommendations that are mandatorily to be followed at the time of next renewal / review.
  • The DGCA has reviewed the policy on issue of Medical Assessment which is mandated in certain conditions and may not be required in others. These conditions differ for Class – 1 & Class – 2.
  • These conditions can be referred to in the Public Notice Issued by the DGCA dated 15 July 2025 titled “Requirement of DGCA Medical Assessments Class 1/2/3 Medical Examinations”.

The DGCA after a thorough review by the medical assessor at the DGCA may agree or may not agree with the examiner being too stringent or lenient and may give a decision on medical assessment which is final and binding.

What does IAF Boarding Centre mean?

IAF BC or IAF Boarding Centre is “Indian Air Force Boarding Centres”/ These are

  • Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM Bangalore)
  • Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME, New Delhi)
  • Medical Evaluation Centre East (MEC East, Jorhat Assam)
IAF Medical centres are the Station Medicare Centres of the Air Force stations across the country. These centres are Indian Air Force centres which are authorised to conduct class one renewal on behalf of the DGCA.
Aeromedical Evaluation Centres are the recognised and reputed hospitals authorised and empanelled by DGCA to conduct all type of medicals on behalf of DGCA. These civil centres are total 10 in number across the country and are empowered to carry out all types of class 1,2 and 3 medicals.
  • Means that your next renewal can only be done at Indian Air Force boarding centres only and cannot be done by DGCA empanelled examiner or a civil aeromedical evaluation centre.
  • However, such a remark was in vogue till recently until aeromedical evaluation centres were empanelled. Hence, it may be prudent to clarify from DGCA by means of applying for NOC to confirm whether your medical can be done at Aeromedical Evaluation Centres in view of the stated remark of IAF boarding centres only.
  • These cases are decided by the DMS at the DGCA on case-to-case basis
  • The remark categorically means that your next renewal can only be done at institute of aerospace medicine Bangalore only.
  • Search remark is invariably endorsed once it is discerned from your medical that the assessment requires human engineering evaluation.
  • These cases are decided by the DMS at the DGCA on case-to-case basis
Remark refers to the requirement of renewal at these 2 centres only. This involves certain conditions like post cardiac event or colour vision abnormalities.
This remark means that your next renewal can only be done at Indian Air Force boarding centre or civil aeromedical evaluation centre however, it cannot be done by a DGCA empanelled Aviation Medical Examiner or Air Force station centres.
What are the remarks I am likely to get in my medical examination?

After your medical examination in your CA 35 may be

  • PIC (Pilot in Command) with no limitations
  • PIC with QEP (Qualified Experienced Pilot)
  • Fit to fly as copilot only
  • Temporary unfit
  • Permanent unfit

You may also get some remarks pertaining to additional investigation that would be required at the time of your next renewal. The remarks may also include a specific place where your renewal can be done.

PIC with no limitations means you are fit to fly as pilot in command of the aircraft with no limitations.
  • Additional remarks may include certain investigation that you would be required to do at the time of your next renewal.
  • There is also a possibility that the renewal duration may be reduced to 6 months, in case a disability or a disease is observed at the time of medical like impaired fasting glucose that is IFG or prediabetes.
Key with QEP means that you are fit to fly as pilot in command with qualified experience pilot on type only.
Temporary unfit means that you are assessed unfit to exercise the privileges of your license due to an infirmity disability or a disease identified at the time of medical. The term temporary refers to a certain duration that is decided by the aviation medical examiner at the time of issuing certificate.
The term permanent unfit is you use to decide disposal after medical examination when a disease or disability or an infirmity that is identified is not compatible for assessment of an individual for safe flight operations as flight crew. The disability or disease identified is likely to improve in future with a minimal chance of an applicant or aircrew to come back to flying as long as the disability remains.
